Associated Features of PTSD

It is not uncommon for individuals who have experienced traumatic events to exhibit other symptoms or related features that can increase the complexity of PTSD. These may include feeling:

 

  • excessive guilt
  • rapid emotional fluctuations
  • spacey, confused, or as if in a daze
  • self-destructive and impulsive
  • weak, nauseated, achy (somatic/bodily complaints)
  • a sense of ineffectiveness, shame, despair, or hopelessness
  • permanently damaged
  • a loss of previous beliefs
  • constantly threatened or on guard
  • changes in personality
